About the Opportunity
PNG Motors is looking for a full-time Dealership Manager based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Reporting to the Country/General Manager, you will take full accountability for the Port Moresby dealership (PNG Motors multi-franchise site). You will lead a team of around 80 staff, including an expat Operations Manager and department managers across parts, service, panel and vehicle sales, with a strong focus on driving vehicle sales performance.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Driving vehicle sales performance across the dealership
- Leading and developing the Operations Manager and department managers across sales, parts, service and panel
- Building a genuine team culture and investing in the development of local staff
- Delegating effectively and following up to ensure outcomes are delivered
- Balancing the needs of all departments to work together as one dealership
- Maintaining high standards of customer service and resolving issues with judgement and care
- Adapting daily to the dynamic, fast-changing nature of the automotive environment in PNG
About You
To qualify, you will need a background in the automotive industry. PNG Motors is specifically seeking candidates with automotive experience; this is not considered transferable from other industries. You will also need a minimum of several years’ experience in dealership management, or in a senior automotive discipline (sales, parts or service management) with a track record of moving into broader dealer management. Prior fixed operations experience (parts or service management) is highly regarded but not required, provided you bring strong vehicle sales leadership and the ability to see the bigger picture across departments.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Proven people management experience, including delegation and follow-up
- A genuine team-building mindset rather than an individually focused approach
- Resilience and adaptability, with the ability to thrive in a culturally different, sometimes challenging overseas environment
- Strong customer service judgement, balancing customer expectations with business outcomes
- Experience using Pentana as a dealer management system (DMS)
You will be emotionally resilient, adaptable and genuinely invested in developing your people. You will be comfortable working and living in an international, cross-cultural setting, and ready to commit to a three-year contract.
